Introduction:
The respiratory system is an organ system that involves the primary organ lungs and it is involved in breathing. Breathing involves inhalation, which is breathing in of air and exhalation which is breathing out of air. The breathing process involves the exchange of gases where oxygen (O2) is inhaled and carbon dioxide (CO2) is exhaled. The air that is inhaled passes through the airways and reaches the alveolar epithelium of the lungs. The pressure of gases in the alveoli is expressed relative to that of the atmospheric pressures.
