Introduction:
The lung is the principle organ of respiration. The main function of the bronchus is the exchange of gases such as oxygen and carbon dioxide. The bronchus is a main branch of air tube that enters the hilum of the lung. The main bronchus is 2 to 3 cm long which extends from the trachea or wind pipe. It extends to form roughly 65,000 terminal bronchioles. The right bronchus forms three branches – the superior, middle, and inferior bronchi. The left main bronchus forms two narrow branches – the superior and inferior bronchi.
