Introduction:
The alveoli of the lungs are branches that arise from the bronchioles and form the end of the respiratory tree. It is a site for exchange of gases such as oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2).Gas exchange is the process of transport of O2 from the lungs to the blood, and the removal of CO2from the blood to the lungs. This process takes place in the lungs between the alveoli and capillaries, which are located on the walls of the alveoli.
