Concept introduction:

Chordates are the member of group eumetazoans, characterized by bilateral symmetry and true tissue organization. Chordates constitute mostly the vertebrate animals, living both on land and in water. They are included under the clade deuterostomes along with echinoderms. Chordates include the fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
