Summary Introduction
Several Archaea and Bacteria possess the ability to travel by swimming. This motility is aided by the presence of thin structures referred to as flagella (in Bacteria) or archaella (in Archaea). Prokaryotic cells can be subjected to appropriate staining techniques and the flagella can be visualized using a light or electron microscope.
