Introduction:
Mean is a model of a given data set. It is the value that is the most common in a given set. Mean or average of a sample is calculated by summing all the values in the sample and dividing them by the total number of individuals in the sample (n). Variance is a numerical measure of the spread of the distribution around the mean. This is calculated to determine how much variation exists among individuals in the sample. It is calculated by summing the square of the difference between each individual value and the sample mean and dividing that sum by the number of degrees of freedom in the sample. Standard deviation describes the distribution of data. It is calculated as square root of variance.

- Discuss five factors that influence Hardy-Weinberg proportions.arrow_forwardHow do I calculate the mean, variance and the standard deviation from this table?arrow_forwardA friend breeds giant racing Rhosgobel rabbits. She is seeking your advice on how to breed faster rabbits. As per your request, she compared the mid-parent and mid-offspring running speeds. Look at the graph to the below, which of the following statements provides accurate information to your friend. 16 y = 0.0453x + 8.3165 R2 = 0.0028 14 12 10 10 15 20 Midoffspring running speed (m/s) O a. The slower rabbits will produce faster offspring than the faster rabbits in the current generation. O b.If your friend selectively breeds her fastest rabbits, you expect the next generation to be significantly faster. OC. The best way to increase running speed in the next generation would be to alter the environment, maybe increasing nutrient density of the food. O d. There is a higher degree of heritability in other populations of Rhosgobel rabbits. Midparent running speed (s/w)arrow_forward
- Draw a graph of V0 vs. [S] (Michaelis-Menten plot) for these data. Put both sets of data on the one graph, use a different symbol of each plot and indicate which set of data is which. Make sure your graph has appropriate axis labels and units. You do not need to insert trend lines (as there is no rectangular hyperbola trendline in EXCEL).arrow_forwardI'm needing help with part 1 through 3, please The data of Sugar Water and Plain Water: mean # of drops variance degrees of freedom t stat t crit (from the table) plain water 25.3 17.221 38 -4.01 2.0261 sugar water 21.3 21.256 1. Make a statement about t stat in relation to t crit. And what is the p-value? 2. Is there a statistically significant difference between the mean values (mean # of drops) of the sugar and plain water? Give your "yes" or "no" answer and the supporting evidence. 3. Hypothesis: The surface tension of plain water is higher than the surface tension of sugar water.
