Chapter 21, Problem 21.68P
Interpretation Introduction

(a)

Interpretation:

The structures of missing products for the given reaction is to be drawn.

Concept introduction:

The alkylation of α carbon of acetoacetic ester is relatively easy by removing a CO2Et group entirely from each of these compounds. The moderately strong base will remove an α proton irreversibly which further followed by SN2 reaction yields the alkylated α carbon that is β-keto  ester. To remove the ester group (CO2Et), heating is done under aqueous, acidic condition. Heating the β-keto  acid drives a decarboxylation in which gaseous CO2 is lost and an enol is formed. The enol rapidly tautomerizes to the keto form.

Control Chart Drawing Assignment The table below provides the number of alignment errors observed during the final inspection of a certain model of airplane. Calculate the central, upper, and lower control limits for the c-chart and draw the chart precisely on the graph sheet provided (based on 3-sigma limits). Your chart should include a line for each of the control limits (UCL, CL, and LCL) and the points for each observation. Number the x-axis 1 through 25 and evenly space the numbering for the y-axis. Connect the points by drawing a line as well. Label each line drawn.
