Chapter 21, Problem 21.24P
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

Molecular formula for peaks observed at m/z values of 31, 41, 43 and 56 in 1-butanol have to be suggested.

Concept Introduction:

Peak that is most abundant has maximum intensity and appears usually at the end. This is identified as molecular ion peak. Other fragments can be obtained by loss of small alkyl groups, or water molecules, or by rearrangement. Fragmentation yield to most stable carbocation or more stable radical possible. Such data is useful to predict identity of sample.

For instance, loss of ethylene molecule from methylcyclopentane yields secondary carbocation as illustrated below:

Blocking Group are use to put 2 large sterically repulsive group ortho. Show the correct sequence toconnect the reagent to product with the highest yield possible. * see image **NOTE: The compound on the left is the starting point, and the compound on the right is the final product. Please show the steps in between to get from start to final, please. These are not two different compounds that need to be worked.
I dont understand this.
Can you please explain this prooblem to me, show me how the conjugation is added, did I add them in the correct places and if so please show me. Thanks!
