The role of the parathyroid glands in regulating the electrolyte balance.
Introduction:
The electrolytes present in our body are sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, chloride, sulfate, phosphate, bicarbonates, and the hydrogen ions. The concentration of calcium ions decreases in the blood leading to the activation of the parathyroid gland. The parathyroid glands in return regulate the calcium ion concentrations.
