Summary Introduction

To explain: The biological basis for the observation in a study where mortality due to lung cancer was studied in several groups.

Concept introduction: Lung cancer or lung carcinoma is the abnormal growth of cells in the lungs. The main cause of lung cancer is smoking followed by air pollution, exposure to asbestos, genetics, radiation and many more. So several studies are conducted wherein, the researchers study the role of smoking and the chemicals present in them which are carcinogenic and cause lung cancer. Several clinical trials are conducted every year in order to make the population understand the injurious effect of smoking to health.
