Summary Introduction

To review:

The relationship between dehydration synthesis and hydrolysis reactions using examples.

Introduction:

Anorganism’s body is made by a large number of different types of macromolecules. Macromolecules are made up of smaller units of monomers, which are joined together to form polymers. Dehydration reactions are those reactions which link together the monomers to form polymers. Hydrolysis reactions are those reactions that break polymers into monomers.

Predict the mechanism as SN1, SN2, E1 or E2 and draw the major organic product formed in each reaction. Consider any regioselectivity and stereoselectivity where applicable: I’d be grateful if you helped with all of these but if not can you please help me answer f,g,h & j ?
A simple reaction in the laboratory can be complex in human body, give one example and discuss it.
Briefly describe the process of dehydration synthesis. Why is this process important? How is it different from hydrolysis?
