Summary Introduction

Introduction:

The substances, which release hydrogenions $\left({\text{H}}^{\text{+}}\right)$ when dissolved in water $\left({\text{H}}_{\text{2}}\text{O}\right)$ are known as acids. Whereas, the substances, which release hydroxylions $\left({\text{OH}}^{-}\right)$ when dissolved in water are known as bases or alkali. An association of an acid and a base is known as salt. Salts dissociate in water to give both ${\text{H}}^{\text{+}}$ and ${\text{OH}}^{-}$.
