Concept introduction: pH of a solution is denoted as the negative logarithm of the hydrogen ion concentration of that solution. The pH in a solution decreases as H+ ion concentration increases in the solution. The pH is a concentration measurement of hydrogen ions present in an aqueous solution. Sodium succinate is a highly acidic, odorless solid. When it dissolves in an aqueous solution, it becomes a conjugate base by releasing hydrogen ion.
