Indication of overflow:

• When two positive numbers are added, the result should be positive.
• But when the user adds two large positive integers, the negative result will be produced.
• Example: Consider the five-bit 2’s complement data type and the user attempts to add “+10” and “+12”,
  • Using “5” bits, the largest positive value can be represented is “+15”.
  • But, the result of the adding “+10” and “+12” is larger than the positive result that the ALU can produce using “5” bits.
