Introduction:

Lipids are important biomolecules that serve most diverse cellular and biochemical functions. These molecules form an integral component of the plasma membrane and also provide the most abundant reservoir of energy. Moreover, these biomolecules can facilitate the transportation of other molecules. Lipids can occur in many different forms, such as fatty acids, triglycerides, phospholipids, steroids, eicosanoids, and lipoproteins. These different derivatives of lipids perform different cellular functions.
