Answer to Problem 26R
There are various ways by which the
- The rate of reaction is changed by the presence of the catalyst.
- It gets changed by changing the concentration of reactants and products.
- By increasing the surface area of the reactants, the rate of reaction is also changed.
- The rate of reaction is also changed by changing the temperature.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The rate of a chemical reaction is the speed at which the reactants are changed into the product.
The speed at which the formation of product occurs is called the reaction rate. There are various factors that affects the rate of a chemical reaction which are discussed below:
- The catalyst is that substance which used in the chemical reaction to change the reaction rate.
- If reactants’ or products’ concentration is changed then the reaction rate is also changed because number of collisions also increase due the increased concentration of reactants in a given time period.
- If there is large surface area, then more particles are exposed to the other reactants’ molecules. Hence, the reaction rate is increased.
- By increasing the temperature, the number of collisions is increased between the particles, and form the product sharply. Hence, the reaction rate is increased.
Conclusion:
Thus, these are some factors which are responsible for the reaction rate changes.
