Question
Chapter 18, Problem 5SA
Summary Introduction
To answer:
The contrast between four classes of immunosuppressive drugs.
Introduction:
The immunosuppressive drugs are used in patients undergoing organ transplant and autoimmune disorders. These drugs will effectively kill both activated T-cell and T-cells. When tissue graft from another individual is donated to the recipient, the MHC proteins are identical, and immune cells will think the donated tissue as a foreign organism and try to destroy it. Therefore, to avoid the rejection, the immunosuppressive drugs are employed.

There is a species of eagle, which lives in a tropical forest in Brazil. The alula pattern of its wings is determined by a single autosomal gene with four alleles that exhibit an unknown hierarchy of dominance. Genetic testing shows that individuals 1-1, 11-4, 11-7, III-1, and III-4 are each homozygous.
How many possible genotypes among checkered eagles in the population?
