What is "defined as the structural differences (diversity) observed in the variable domains of antibodies?   This is for immunology.
Mr. Y’s HIV is being managed on a combination drug regimen that includes two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) and one protease inhibitor (PI). His viral load is currently 50,000 copies/ mL; 3 months ago, his viral load was undetectable. His CD4+ T-lymphocyte count is 526 cells/mm3, down from 680 cells/mm3 3 months ago. Although he has been following his HAART regimen, he has experienced multiple complications, including several opportunistic infections. In light of his medical history, Mr. Y is especially concerned about his shortness of breath and hemoptysis. 1.What is the mechanism of action of the NRTI drugs that Mr. Y is taking for his HIV? 2. What is the rationale for the use of combined drug therapy in the treatment of HIV?
Let’s say there are two closely related viruses, let’s call them Guernsey virus and Micro virus. These two viruses only infect epithelial cells. Their surface antigens are sufficiently similar that there are a number of shared epitopes between the two viruses. Choose one of the following: A) If you get infected and successfully recover from one virus, it’s quite possible that you’ll have neutralizing antibodies against the other. B) If you get infected and successfully recover from one virus, you’ll still be susceptible to the other one because the antigens aren’t exactly the same. C) If you get infected and successfully recover from one virus, it’s likely that getting infected with the other virus will be worse because of the common phenomena of antibody-dependent enhancement. D) Not enough information has been given.
