Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Protobionts are precursors of living cells. Scientists speculate that protobionts consist of a molecule and a macromolecule which, is supplied by a distinct boundary called the lipid bilayer. Characteristics of protobionts are: -

1. A distinct membrane that separates the inner contents from the outside environment.

2. Protobionts must consist of polymers that contain the information.

3. Polymers within the protobiont should be self-replicative and should possess catalytic activity.
