Introduction:

Each cell undergoes the cell cycle. It is the cycle that leads to the creation of new cells from existing cells. It consists of interphase and mitosis. Interphase takes up most of the duration of the cell cycle. It is the phase in which the cell undergoes growth and prepares for cell division. There are sub-phases in interphase: Gap 1 or G1, Synthesis or S phase, and Gap 2 or G2.
