Introduction:

The thin walled blood vessels that comes from the efferent arterioles, exiting each glomerulus in the kidney, are termed as vasa recta. The vasa recta has high permeability for solute as well as water. These vessels provide nutrients as well as oxygen to the nephron segments that are located in the renal medulla.
