Concept explainers
(a) Interpretation:
The relationship between intracellular malonyl-CoA levels in the liver and the control of ketogenesis.
Concept introduction:
Ketogenesis can be defined as the process of the formation of the
(b) Interpretation:
The process by which the action of hexokinase IV helps the liver to buffer the blood glucose level.
Concept introduction:
The hexokinase IV is a pancreatic beta cell/liver enzyme whose level is controlled by the levels of insulin. The G6P levels have no effect on the levels of this enzyme. Due to this lack of inhibition, high blood glucose levels can lead to the formation of the stockpile of G6P, which will convert it to glycogen for future use.
