“TCA cycle” or “citric acid cycle” takes place in the mitochondrial matrix in aerobic conditions. Citric acid cycle refers to the oxidation of acetyl CoA into carbon dioxide and water. TCA cycle produces large amount of energy in the form of ATP, which is utilized by cells.
