Erythrocytes are one of the major components of blood. The main function of erythrocytes is to carry carbon dioxide and oxygen to and from the cells and tissues. The erythrocytes are also called as Red Blood Cells (RBCs) and they have a protein known as Hemoglobin which binds to the oxygen and carbon dioxide.
