Question
Chapter 15, Problem 2CTS
Summary Introduction
To review:
The answer to the question 'when it was clear that humans can cause mass extinction, and what precautions as an individual was taken to prevent it?'
Introduction:
The biodiversity is very important for human and wild welfare. The loss of biodiversity comewith major changes to the environment and loss of many important elements of nature. In case, the humans fail to conserve the biodiversity, a mass extinction could occur due to the changes in the environment.

We are now in 6th mass extinction caused by human. So how to prevent next mass extinction on earth?? Kindly answer this question
We have looked at what the fossil record can tell us about the amazing History of Life on Earth. We've examined the evidence for an early origin for life in the sea, 3800 million years, and investigated how life invaded life about 500 million years. We've also discussed the subsequent boom in life that massively increased biodiversity but also noted how the History of Life is frequently punctuated by mass extinctions. Today we stand on the threshold of a new mass extinction event. The biodiversity that we take for granted and that sustains humans is threatened to a degree only rarely seen in 4500 million years of Earth History.
NOW TO CONCLUDE, ANSWER THE QUESTION.
1. ARE WE ON THE BRINK OF A MASS EXTINCTION? WHAT WOULD BE THE CONSEQUENCES FOR SOCIETY OF LOSING HALF OF ALL SPECIES BY 2100? ARE THERE ACTIONS THAT WE CAN TAKE AS INDIVIDUALS AND AS SOCIETY TO HELP PROTECT LIFE ON EARTH?
What is a mass extinction? What makes the 6th mass extinction that is happening right now different from the last 5?

- Throughout Earth’s history, many species, and perhaps even most of the species that ever existed, have become extinct. The causes are numerous: climate change, volcanic activity, the actions of oxygen-producing organisms, changes in carbon dioxide concentration, and even asteroid impacts. The world buzzed with the possibility that this was a crash site for an extraterrestrial body. An extensive study of the uncovered remains was conducted by many research facilities. Their conclusions regarding the organism’s features are listed below: Physical features: The organism has a surprisingly soft and malleable exoskeleton that reflects ambient light, creating mesmerizing patterns.
