Introduction:
The organs of hearing and balance can be categorized into three parts:
- External ear: The external ear helps in collecting the sound waves and directing it to the interior.
- The middle ear: The middle ear has the air-filled cavity.
- Inner ear: The inner ear has the sensory organs for hearing and balance. The inner ear possesses bony labyrinth and the membranous labyrinth.
The bony labyrinth is divided into three regions known as the vestibule, semicircular canal and the cochlea. The membranous labyrinth is arranged in the bony labyrinth of cochlea.
