The condensed structural formula for the products from acid – or base – catalysed hydrolysis of each of the following reactions has to be drawn.

Concept Introduction:

➢ The condensed structural formula shows as the atoms that form the molecule are united. The bonds between the carbons and the hydrogen are not shown. The hydrogen united to carbon are represented with its chemical element that has a subscript that represents the amount of hydrogens united to the carbon.

➢ The esters are oil derivatives that are formed when a carboxylic acid reacts with an alcohol losing a molecule of water. Its general formula is,
