These nerves are separated into 8 cervical, 12 thoracic, 5 lumbar, 5 sacral, and 1 coccygeal nerve. The inferior or distal end of the spinal cord: The most inferior portion of the spinal cord is known as the conus medullaris. It has a tapering end that continues as the filum terminale.
