Introduction:

The immune system consists of three lines of defense: the first line, second line and third line. The first and the second line of defense are non specific but the third line of defense is highly specific.

The first line of defense uses body barriers like skin, saliva, mucus, vaginal secretions and many more. The second line of defense consists of non specific immune cells such as dendritic cells, T-helper cells, macrophages and neutrophils. The third line of defense is made up of highly specific cells or lymphocytes.
