Whether the fracture toughness property is high or low for tempered and quenched aluminum bronze needs to be determined.If thereis any difference in the resistance of alloy to crack nucleation when compared to the crack growth or not needs to be determined.

Concept Introduction:

Fracture toughness is the property of a material that defines the resistant ability of material underthe fracture. It is considered to bea very important property as per the design point of view. When fatigue occurs at nucleus that leads to the propagation of crack at the nucleus. The cracks nucleate at stresses far below the static fracture strength.
