To explain: Whether both v-SNAREs and t- SNAREs are essential for the homotypic fusion.
Introduction: There are many protein molecules involved in the fusion of vesicle. Membrane fusion is facilitated by bringing two lipid bilayer of membrane in close proximity, so that the lipid can flow from one bilayer to another. The SNARE proteins catalyze the membrane fusion in vesicle transport. The transmembrane proteins exist as complementary sets with v-SNAREs usually found on vesicle membranes and t- SNAREs usually found in target membranes.
To explain: Whether the data suggest for the requirements for v-SNAREs and t- SNAREs in the fusion of vacuolar vesicles.

- Determine Kd and Bmax from the following Scatchard plot. Make sure to include units.arrow_forwardChoose a catecholamine neurotransmitter and describe/draw the components of the synapse important for its signaling including synthesis, packaging into vesicles, receptors, transporters/degradative enzymes. Describe 2 drugs that can act on this system.arrow_forwardThe following figure is from Caterina et al. The capsaicin receptor: a heat activated ion channel in the pain pathway. Nature, 1997. Black boxes indicate capsaicin, white circles indicate resinferatoxin. a) Which has a higher potency? b) Which is has a higher efficacy? c) What is the approximate Kd of capsaicin in uM? The mammalian phylogenies (labeled a and b) were produced by two different research groups. a. In which tree do phylogenetic relationships most closely align with biogeography and why? (consult the Teeling and Hedges paper) b. What are the most closely related species to Chiroptera in each tree? Might the use of convergent traits for building phylogenies explain this difference? If so, which tree is most likely to have relied on convergent traits and why? c. What are some possible reasons that the two research groups came up with different phylogenies (in general terms)? describe at least three possible reasons.arrow_forward
