The purpose of Schwann cells in the unmyelinated nerve fiber.
Introduction:
The myelin sheath is an insulating covering around the nerve cell. It is formed by oligodendrocyte glial cells in the CNS and Schwann glial cells in the PNS. The composition of the myelin sheath is basically of the plasma membrane of the glial cells. The formation of the myelin sheath is termed as myelination.
