Decision Support System (DSS)

• A decision support system (DSS) is a computerized program used to support determinations, judgments, and courses of action in an organization or a business.
• A DSS helps to analyze massive amounts of data, to compile comprehensive information that can be used to solve problems and in decision-making.
• Typical information used by a DSS includes target or projected revenue, sales figures or past ones from different time periods, and other inventory- or operations-related data.

Executive Support System (ESS)

• An Executive Support System (ESS) is software that allows users to transform enterprise data into quickly accessible and executive-level reports, such as those used by billing, accounting and staffing departments.
• An ESS helps to enhance decision making for executives.
• ESS is also known as Executive Information System (EIS).

Group Decision Support System (GDSS)

• A Group Decision Support System is an interactive computer based system that helps to find solutions to problems for the decision makers.
• The system is designed in such a way that they take input from multiple users that interact with the systems simultaneously for arriving at a decision.
• The system provides tools and techniques for improving the quality and effectiveness of group meetings.
