Concept introduction: Porins are transmembrane proteins which facilitate passive diffusion of different types of molecules across the membrane. Porins are found on the membrane of mitochondria, chloroplasts and peroxisomes. Translocons are proteins which are found on the surface of endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, peroxisomes, nucleus, chloroplast and vacuoles which facilitates selective diffusion of molecules.
