Summary Introduction

To describe: The functions of the hormones that the pancreas secretes.

Introduction: The pancreas is a pear-shaped organ that consists of two major types of secretory tissues. It is located posterior to the stomach and partly posterior to the parietal peritoneum. It serves a dual function; one as an exocrine gland that secretes the digestive juice and the other as an endocrine gland that secretes the hormones. The endocrine portion of the pancreas is composed of a group of cells called islets of Langerhans.
