Introduction:
The hypothalamus controls the secretion of hormones by the anterior pituitary. However, sometimes the hypothalamus and anterior pituitary secretions are controlled by their target cells. This happens through a process of feedback. Negative feedback results in the inhibition of hormonal secretion whereas positive feedback leads to an increase in the secretion of the hormone.
