Interpretation:

The thickness of the sample at which the intensity of light becomes half the initial intensity has to be calculated.

Concept introduction:

The relation between the absorbance of a substance with its concentration and path length is given by Beer-lambert law.  It states that the transmitted intensity $I$ varies with the length $L$ of the sample and the molar concentration $\left[\text{J}\right]$ of the sample.

The beer-lambert law is shown below.

  $\epsilon \left[\text{J}\right]L=\log \frac{I_0}{I}$

Concept introduction:

states that the transmitted intensity $I$ varies with the length $L$ of the sample and the molar concentration $\left[\text{J}\right]$ of the sample.
