The total amount of $\alpha$ and $\beta$, the amount of each microconstituent in the Pb-50% Sn alloy and the fraction of $\alpha$ in the eutectic microconstituent needs to be determined.

Concept introduction:

A substance's homogeneous mixture that melts or strengthen at a temperature below either constituent's melting point is a eutectic system. The eutectic temperature for the part species concerned is the lowest melting temperature that is possible over the all combining proportions. It is likely to categorize eutectic systems as hypoeutectic or hypereutectic.
