Introduction:

Catabolism is a chemical reaction in which large molecules arebroken down into small molecules, which produces a large amount of energy in the form of ATP. On the basis of the availability of oxygen, two types of catabolism take place in the cells. One is aerobic respiration and the other is anaerobic respiration.
