In prokaryotic cells, the genetic recombination occurs between the recipient and donor chromosomes. The homologous chromosomes are genetically distinct but it gets closer by different ways, such as transduction, conjugation, and transformation. The homologous recombination occurs after transfer of donor DNA fragments into the recipient cell.
