The superior, middle, and inferior pharyngeal constrictor muscles of the throat.

Introduction:

The pharyngeal constrictor muscles are the group of muscles which forms the pharynx. The pharyngeal constrictor muscles contracts to push the food into the esophagus. These are made with two muscular layers: 1.Outer circular layer and 2.Inner circular layer. The outer circular layer includes:

1. 1. Inferior constrictor muscle
2. 2. Middle constrictor muscle
3. 3. Superior constrictor muscle

These muscles constrict to propel the food bolus downwards during swallowing process.
