Introduction: Gel electrophoresis is an electrophoretic technique that is widely used for the separation of DNA, RNA, and proteins. Here, the sample that has to be separated is loaded at one end of the gel and forced to migrate to the other end of the gel by applying the electric current. The molecules migrate across the cell according to their size and charge. DNA fragments are loaded in the wells after staining it by suitable DNA-binding dye. After the electrophoretic run, the bands can be visualized under UV-transilluminator. From the position of bands, the sequence of the any given DNA fragments can be determined.
