A sample of 15 weight lifters is tested to see how much weight they can bench press. They then follow a special training program for three weeks, after which they are tested again. The samples are the amounts of weights that were lifted before and after the training program.

Given information:

Thesample contains 15 observations and the sample are amount of weights that were lifted before and after the training program.

If the averages of the same group at different times are compared then the samples are said to be dependent. Instead of two separate groups if two types of treatments are compared on the same observational unit then the design is known as a paired design.

The sample of 15 weight lifters is paired sample due to each before and after three weeks weight lifter is taken from single population.

Therefore, the given samples are paired.
