Chapter 10, Problem 17E
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The advantages and disadvantages of nuclear power and the renewed interest in it are to be explained.

Concept Introduction:

Nuclear power comes from the fission of certain isotopes of some elements. These isotopes are uses as fuels in nuclear power plants. A small amount of fuel on fission can produce an enormous amount of energy which can then be directed to converting water to steam. Steam thus produced, can be used to turn a turbine that produces electricity.

Please help me with this chemistry question, please include citations/references. Thank you! Discuss and explain at least two problems associated with the burning of fossil fuels. Is fossil fuel finite? What is its origin? What are two examples of some environmentally friendly renewable energy resources?
Section 1: Nuclear Energy What types of reactions occur in a nuclear power plant? Is the process endothermic or exothermic? What is your opinion about the use of this energy?
