Introduction
Membranes that line closed internal body cavities are known as serous membranes. The serous membranes that line the pleural, pericardial, and peritoneal cavities are referred to as the peritoneum, pleura, and pericardium, respectively. A small amount of lubricating fluid is secreted by serous membranes. Pleura is the serous membrane that covers the thoracic. It is divided into parietal and visceral pleura.
