Interpretation:

The atmospheric surface pressure on Mars is 4.50 torr and is composed entirely of carbon dioxide. Given a surface temperature of -80 °C, the mass of carbon dioxide present per cubic centimeter at the surface is to be calculated and the answer is to be compared to the previous exercise.

Concept introduction:

In physical sciences, the pressure is defined as the perpendicular force acting per unit area (or) the stress at a point within a confined fluid. The symbol for it is p or P. Dalton's law of partial pressure states the fact that the total pressure of a mixture of gases is equal to the sum of the partial pressures of the individual gases in the mixture.
