Why is it important for managers to value and support shared leadership? (400 words)
Expert Solution

Step 1
Shared leadership is not the same as conventional vertical hierarchical management. Individuals in managerial roles make the majority of the decisions under a vertical style of management, whereas those in inferior jobs have limited say in the decision-making process. Shared leadership is more of a team approach. Although one individual remains in control, authority and responsibility are shared among the members of the group. This might imply that individuals have greater liberty regarding decisions pertaining to their position, or that there is a better open-door approach in which everyone's opinions are given equal attention.
