BRCA1 and BRCA2 -

BRCA1 and BRCA2 are genes that encode tumor suppressor proteins. Whenever a DNA is damaged these proteins help the damaged DNA to get repaired to complete normal DNA synthesis and undergo a normal cell cycle. If there's a mutation in these genes then a cell will not be able to repair the damaged DNA and undergo an unregulated cell cycle hence becoming cancerous.
