Question
We use the results of our first step to calculate a test-statistic. Why is this important and how does it relate to the concept of z-score,
What is a p-value? What role does it play in the rejection of the null hypothesis?
What does it mean to reject the null hypothesis? Does that guarantee that the null hypothesis is false?
Expert Solution
part(i)
Null hypothesis:
According to Prof. R.A.Fisher, null hypothesis is the hypothesis and is tested for possible rejections under the assumption that it is true. It is denoted by Ho.
In other words, null hypothesis would be the sample statistic does not differ significantly from the value assigned to a population parameter.
We wish to reject the null hypothesis because the reality of the null hypothesis is unknown, and we are just making an assumption that it is true. We do not aware that we are making correct assumption, or we are committing an error. Therefore, to reach the correct conclusion we reject the null hypothesis.
