The year is 2200, and the intrepid space explorer Joel E. has been bitten by some kind of toothy alien. We don't know much about the alien, but we do know its venom causes voltage-gated potassium channels to close even slower than normal.

Expert Solution
Step 1: Voltage gated potassium channels

Voltage gated potassium ion channels are transmembrane channels that play a very important role during the nerve impulse conduction. When the nerve impulse has been conducted or an action potential has already been performed the opening of potassium gated ion channels allows the loss of potassium ions from inside of the cell to outside thereby returning the positive potential to negative potential of the resting membrane level.
